He is Kaori's older brother and Saeba Ryou's partner and best friend at the beginning of City_Hunter. Unlike his wacky womanizing partner, Hideyuki is serious and calm man. He is very protective of his sister, Makimura_Kaori and is more excited when talking about her. However, Kaori is not his biological sister and she was adopted. Kaori is oblivious to this fact, but Hideyuki plans to tell her the truth when she turns twenty. He was a detective before he became a sweeper. Although he has technically joined the opposite side of the law, he retains his moral integrity and he refuses to work with morally reprehensible clients. Unfortunately, this also leads to his murder after he refuses to work with the ruthless drug lord Garcia. Due to his death, he does not get the chance to tell Kaori the truth and leaves the task to Ryou. He also asks Ryou to take care of Kaori in his dying breaths. In the Angel_Heart continuity, he was actually 'City Hunter' before Ryou. He also meets Ryou after the latter encounters Kaori whereas in City Hunter Ryou had never met Kaori prior to the start of the series. He is voiced by Tanaka_Hideyuki.
