Hopefully the great sales for Kekkai Sensen will lead to an announcement of a 2nd season. Really disappointed by how badly Rokka no Yuusha is doing, season 2 seems even more unlikely now, especially because Passione is still new so doubt they'll want to waste money on another season if it won't sell well. |

Not much to comment on this week. Hibike! Euphonium sales remaining consistent which is good to see. S2 and the movie are going to be fab. Diamond no Ace sales are surprising for a long running show. Best per volume I've seen from most. |

Fujoshis are going crazy about Osomatsu San for reasons I don't understand, there's an article on Yaraon right now about how Osomatsu videos on Nico Nico are dominated by Fujoshi content and comments. Since Fujoshi series tend to be underestimated by Stalker this means the actual sales of Osomatsu San is likely to be more than what that is estimated. |

Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL? 5. Is it actually good? Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant... |

It's hard to predict those Japanese people taste, just because NGNL, SAO,K-On and Mahouka had a godly sales, people start to use the term "otaku pandering" word to justify the reason of it's high sales, but what if majority of japanese people actually like those kind of series and otaku is not the majority buyer of those title? one can only predict and make assumption but no one can legitimately prove it. I tend to see some grimdark edgy gory title flop in sales and a random funny gag manga adaptation had a pretty high sales that used to make me thik that Japanese had more appreciation toward comedy based show rather than some bloody dark show. But then I saw Psycho Pass, Kara no Kyoukai, Tokyo Ghoul, Berserk and the likes had prety good sales which makes me think once again just what kind of anime does those japanese people like. I didn't yet to watch Rokka no Sales but is it that strange for it to had that low sales? is it that good to deserve more sales than this? |

In no era, now or before, has sales been dictated by quality. There are many elements to what makes something sell and quality definitely is one of them, but it is a rather minor element. The major element is this thing called "Marketing". Ever heard of it? I'm guessing no. You might wanna educate yourself on it before you make any more statements that's only going to serve as an embarrassment. Then there is "Loyalty". Not a hard thing to figure out, but once this kicks in, it takes over from Marketing as the major element. After this comes the market itself. You target a niche market and no matter how good it is, it's still not gonna sell as much as a shitty product from something marketed well and targeted at a wider market. There are still many more elements that sells a product before quality comes into play. |

You cannot collectively say what Japanese fans like in anime with certainty. There are so many factors which determine which anime is worthy of their purchase, and which ones do not make the cut, since people do not have unlimited amounts of money to spend on such an expensive hobby. There are factors (in no particular order) such as animation quality, BGM usage, OP/ED, seiyuu performance, artwork, story, pacing, character interactions, the characters themselves, etc. One factor I did not mention there, which I think is one of the major factors is `enjoyment'. Anime is an entertainment medium, so if you fail to entertain fans, then who will buy you? Isn't that how the majority in the Western world determines what to buy from an entertainment medium? I would say the simple reason why Rokka no Yuusha sold poorly, is because only 400~500 people found it worthy of their purchase. Considering there are typically 30~50 TV anime airing in any one season nowadays, people have to make decisions on what to buy, and Rokka no Yuusha was just not one of them. It makes me cringe every week to see rubbish (such as "Japanese fans have shit taste") being posted here. It's supposed to be a discussion on the sales, not 'bash the Japanese fans for not having the same tastes as you do'. It seems like many on MAL do not have the maturity to be tolerant of differing tastes in what people find entertaining. It also seems that some people do not have the ability to critically justify why a certain sales trend is like so, without resorting to rubbish statements. |

Naruto never improve your animation, you have to spend the budget to make more chapters, and Pierrot has some anime with good animation. |
