OK, so today over at Daz3D.com...
Like the sands of the hourglass, so go the days of our lives...
A.K.A. life is too short to spend a lot of our time checking Daz3D.com for sale stacking opportunities...
But I digress...

Anyways, so while not quite as cool as that 'blip' a couple of days ago, there's a 50% off wishlist sale going on.

If you happen to have any new release in your cart, say if you haven't jumped on the deals yet...

Well, you can get rather decent deals on wishlist items from these PA's...

.4 * .8 *.5 = 84% off

.4 if 3 or more * .5 with 'doorbuster' new release * .5 * .7 with Daz+ new = 93% off
* edited per Schlongborn's evaluation of the associated math.

So pretty decent, but not best ever, BUT If you ended up with a bajillion tokens from that blip/flash sale, and if something strikes your fancy, might be worth a looksee.

I think you're forgetting something cause I get to 93% off. Did you do this:
Include 1 and 1 " " New Release to earn an:

Extra 30% off*
"Opportunity" New Releases

Extra 50% off*
"Opportunity" Featured Artist Stores

Extra 30% off*
Daz+ Related Items

They're updating the main sale every 8 hours, so you'll get six chances over two days of your wishlist items showing up there and getting fully stacked. If you have the time.

I don't like those usually. The deals are actually not bad at 86% off. But the requirement of repeatedly checking the selection of items, and not being able to just build a cart and then buy it at some point puts me off these.

OK, so I have tunnel vision atm, one of my mods is holding me up from working on my big project, 'cuz I'm OCD that way, so I haven't been following the latest sales...

Over at Daz3D.com, I see that I have a coupon for an extra 25% off, and there's apparently some storewide sale going on. Looks like there might be some good deals based on the higher discounts I've noticed in Lightning Deals in the last day or so, but I haven't looked into this.

What is y'all's opinion r.e. the current weekend sale, discount wise? Any good deals?

I just played around with a cart and using the extra 25% coupon you can get some items to 95% off. Aeon Soul the newest three underwear products for example.

But it is somewhat negated by the fact that you need two new items from here to get an additional 20% off of your cart. So you end up with only being able to get 3 items at 95%.

The rest of PA items in that january catch up sale can still go up to a pretty high discount of 93% with tokens and a new release from here: . But only those items that are in both of those sales of course, but that covers a huge section of the store (scroll down to see the full list of PAs).

Overall, plenty of stuff you could buy if you wanted to.

EDIT: I did not try any of the other coupons if the discount are even higher. Maybe, but usually they are not and it is too much work so I didn't bother.

Working out benefits of buying Daz Premiere for its effect on a single cart:

Assume you're not interested in Daz Premier (e.g. poor value for people with large libraries). If you remember to unsubscribe immediately, one month of Daz Premiere will cost $19. It comes with $20 of coupons, but lets ignore those for now.

So, here's a simple example. Suppose you're not Plus or Premiere, and you want to use something like today's gift card deal, which is 10% off for normals, 20% off for Premiere.

What's the break-even point where you can throw in Premiere for free? A month of Premiere costs $19, so: a $190 gift card costs normal users $171 (saving $19), whereas a $190 gift card costs Premiere members $152 (saving $38, or $19 more).

So, in this scenario, a $190 gift card is sufficient. And then you can use the other benefits of Daz Premiere for a monath. Just be careful not to use anything that goes away when your Daz Premiere expires.

If you're already Daz+, it takes $380 to break even, but don't do this if you have a grandfathered multi-month paid-for Daz+.

note: I'm ignoring the value of the coupons because the assumption is that you don't already have Daz Premiere, which means you don't consider the coupons to be worth $20 (if you did, presumably you'd be subscribed). I didn't account for the buy-in in today's deal because that doesn't affect the break-even point, it's just an extra overhead on the effective value of the gift card.

Mini-rant time!

Auto-save is a 'Premier only' feature? Really?

Fuck you Daz sales team!

At least the other thing talked about (advanced sort) is only 'early access', not completely locked out forever.

Not sure what the point of the 'persona' preset is but that's in the new public build so I'm sure someone will enlighten me.

But back to the auto save is only for Premier thing, I say again:

Fuck you Daz sales team!

Rant off
:(

Yes, I just saw today's Daz mail with the news. Locking these exclusive features behind the Premier subscription is their way of trying that more people become Premier, I imagine. Still, I can pass withouth that autosave feature. I have a couple of products in my library that already should do a similar job, I believe.

On Daz3D it's another one of those sales updating every 8 hours. But even if you don't like checking back frequently, just check in once. To be honest I'm not even sure what changed from the first 8 hours to the second; I'm still seeing a lot of the same stuff.

With a buy-in and 8 tokens looking at the top sales section with ~5000 item, I was able to find a lot of $1-2 clothes and clothing texture sets that were originally on Renderosity (Sveva, lilflame, Anagord, valkyrie) by filtering for G8F and sorting low-high. There's so much stuff on sale I didn't even get through it all. And the buy-in may not be necessary, it's only an extra 10% in theory.

Anyway, you have to put things in the cart to see the basic 60% discount, for some reason. I'm not sure what the math is that explains the 90-92% discount I was seeing on some things in the cart. I think the pattern was just if the item was showing as 10% off, it tended to be ~90% in cart, but if it was showing 0% off, it tended to be 75% off in cart.

If the 90-92% discount is a bug then it's better to check in now, but if it's intentional, then it may be best to wait until the end when there may be a catch-up sale.

As a rule I avoid buying "top-only" (shirt, blouse) products that are priced the same as full outfits--there's a lot of Sveva or lilflame stuff like that--but at $1 I decided to make an exception.

I think that happens when the items stack with the and and with 8 tokens ...

Earlier on i was seeing things at 86% off before any extra discounts. This seems to have stopped now with the "evening" offerings. I'm only seeing 64% on items that were there before at a higher discount. Perhaps there was a bug.

If so, it's not really worth it anymore. I'll wait til the next cycle, perhaps it will be better.

EDIT: something odd is happening, in fact most aren't getting ANY discount at all!

The Daz3d sales team fucking up the discounts on the live site? Heaven forfend!

But seriously, I still don't know what's changing every 8 hours, and they don't say. Maybe some stuff is rotation, but the same stuff I mentioned before has been in there for four blocks of 8-hours now. When I wishlist filter it I've gotten basically the exact same list every time. They do seem to have fixed the bug where stuff wasn't being discounted, at least. But in return it looks like the 91% discount from items being in multiple sales categories at once was a bug, as they seem to be disabling that effect (even though stuff is still labelled that way).

For example, this is in all of the following categories:
  • top 60% off category (10% extra with new relase)
  • "Quick Pics" (no discount, supposed to help discount new releases)
  • 64% off Featured artist stores (10% extra with new release)
  • 10% discounted already
Normal Daz math would put this at: 0.9 * 0.4 * 0.9 * 0.36 * 0.*9 = 0.1049, or 90% off. Instead, in the cart with a new release it's 64% off.

So: yeesh, this has been one of their least competent efforts in a while.

daz3d has an orange banner (superb-owl-themed) for an extra 30% off 3 items, but there aren't really any great sales to put this on.

Featured artists are only 50% off, more with new releases; below is the best I could get it to (without tokens), which isn't beating the 'recent bests' by much. plus 'recent bests' don't account for coupons and other discounts that only show up in-cart, so it's probably not beating the REAL recent bests at all. plus the buy-in is a huge fraction of the cart, since the coupon's only good for 3 items.

so I'd say "not worth it", unless you have something you really wanted to buy anyway that you can use the banner offer on.

From what I see, it only applied to the first three items, and the discount percentage was decent for a simple coupon. In my case, adding the benefit of DAZ+ gave me a quite interesting percentage, from 53 originals to 10 finals.

And without applying any tokens yet, and adding 4 more tokens for the purchase. (y)

Transcribe directly from reddit.

Daz+ mainly gives extra discounts on products. Looking basic 30% discount on most items. There are also some Daz+ exclusive content that you can't get if you're not a Daz+ member, but nothing too fantastic, really. At Christmas, I was able to scoop up over $1000 in assets for like $60 thanks to Daz+ so I'd say it's paid for its membership.

Renderosity has some decent prices on stuff. I find that Renderosity has better clothing assets, while Daz has better characters and hair. Renderosity also has their Prime membership, which also offers discounts on a lot of stuff, plus monthly coupons like Daz+.

Render-hub I've found is a little more pricey, and a lot of the stuff really isn't worth it. I found a few good things there, but the majority is crap and overpriced.

CGBytes is cheap, but the quality of stuff there is pretty cheap as well. They're the more PG-related stuff of Renderotica.

Any thoughts?
